Video 3 - Screen Capture
Hi everyone,
Sorry, this is a little late!
I created my title screen in Camtasia. The tools they provide are fantastic for making something slick. I even was able to edit the vectors and background to make them match the pallet that CSUMB's marketing department has asked us to use. I first recorded my voiceover in order to get a sense of how much time I needed to take in order to get the imagery, then listened to the voiceover as I recorded the screen captures. I also took a lot of b-roll to fill in gaps. This didn't come out 100% the way I wanted to - I have some weirdly navigational shots. All in all, that's usually how I like to do voiceovers. Still images (okay, few and far between, I know) were done via screencap and just capturing a few seconds of video. If the voiceover I was making wasn't so digital, I would have used a nice camera to capture images and spliced those in.
I had previously helped caption videos for the college of business, and I knew that youtube is the easiest for that. They allow you to paste your script and then they try to guess the timings. Took about 5 minutes for my video, and after they matched, I edited it for clarity and so it actually matched what I said.
I love editing! It's so fun to play around with different timings and to try and get things to flow smoothly. I'm excited to continue to explore the features Camtasia has!
